Lost: Season 6 Review

By Albert on August 29, 2010 9:34 PM

I'm restarting my entrance into Lost: Season 6 - the finale.

How to Watch Lost

I'd previously watched the first couple of episodes on the ABC website, but the player was so lousy that I decided to hold off and watch them on DVD via Netflix.

Lost: Season Six DVDs

So its been a couple weeks now and the DVDs for season six have just been released. While Netflix lists the first DVD as having a "long wait", I jumped ahead to disc two (I did watch the first two shows on the ABC site).

Jack, Hurley, and Claire

So I'm starting out seeing Jack in a major meltdown (what else is new?), while Hurley is confused and seeing dead people again. Now I'm having amnesia! One twist is Claire who is totally different than the last time I saw her - thank you!

But what about the flash-forwards, flashbacks, or are they flash-sideways? I'm getting the suspicion that they are gearing up for closure that is simply an alternate reality. I hope that's not the case.

Jacob, Locke, and Linus

Further into disc two, the same flash-sideways events keep happening, especially with the Dr. Linus episode. Yep, sure does seem like an alternate reality when he is younger and his daughter is the same age we've always known her, only she's not his daughter anymore!

Is Lost: Season Six Any Good?

To hedge my bets against wasting my time watching a lousy season, I read up a little on some Lost: Season Six reviews. I was glad to find that there were many positive reviews!

Oli411 says:

Season 6 was the best season for a lot of reasons. But the #1 reason is :

"I don't believe in a lot of things, but I do believe in duct tape!"

and mk741 gives it a 10:

I'd give it a 10.

Wrapped up one of the best shows in recent memory, and had a fantastic finale.

OK! I'll keep watching it!

The Grand

The Grand

My mother recommended "The Grand" to me, and after watching the first episode, I'm glad she did! Its a British television mini-series written by Russell T. Davies, who is also responsible for the modern version of Doctor Who!!

It also features Steven Moyer, who more recently plays Bill in True Blood.

The name is based on the name of a hotel which is apparently the setting for the entire series, and from what I can tell about it so far, there is lots of fuel for drama, including a stressful family business!

I'm definitely looking forward to watching all of this.

Netflix Versus The NeoPhonez

By Albert on August 11, 2010 11:47 PM

Honestly, I'm disappointed in Netflix for not having any presence at all on my new Droid X.

What gives? Are they clueless? And then comes this crazy outage... should I drop Netflix in lieu of... gasp! Blockbuster???

Netflix Watch Now Outage

By Albert on August 11, 2010 11:17 PM

It was bound to happen, and may have happened before, but I'm experiencing a total Netflix "Watch Now" outage.

Every time I try and watch a show I get a "NetFlix Error":

Netflix Error

as well as this "BS":

Netflix Out Of Order

Entourage: The Complete Sixth Season

By Albert on July 14, 2010 1:27 PM

I hate to admit it, but I find Entourage pretty entertaining. The sixth the season was just released and I've added it to my Netflix queue. For the DVD collectors out there - Amazon is offering a Watch It Instantly service if you buy the DVD.

Futurama

By Albert on July 12, 2010 3:16 PM

I'm a late arrival to the Futurama party and I'm glad I made it thanks to Netflix's Watch Instantly service.

I'd seen a couple of episodes before, and enjoyed them for sure, but it never caught on with me like the Simpsons did. Now after watching the first volume, I definitely like it.

I'm now watching the second volume, and I'm starting to see Matt Groening's influence (Matt Groening created the Simpsons).

I especially liked "A Head in the Polls", featuring an episode of "Behind the Scary Door!", it even mentions John Quincy Adding Machine!

And I do like that Bender can play the banjo!
